Paul Roux is a unique farm village in the Eastern Free State on the N5 just south of Bethlehem, nestled beneath a sandstone koppie and looking out towards the Maluti Mountains. Here peace, friendliness, the love of people, nature, and the arts and crafts all blend into tranquil harmony, with low levels of crime, causing residents to be exceptionally proud of their village, and bidding visitors a hearty welcome.

The red-rooster is the chosen Brand symbol for Paul Roux. This came about due to the proud Rooster at the top of the church steeple which looks out across the village and the fact that, the village was eventually named Paul Roux after General Paul Roux. Today the villagers call themselves Proud Paul Rouxsters.
